Have you ever eaten a root? What about a stem? If you’ve ever eaten carrots, you’ve eaten a root. If you’ve ever eaten celery, you’ve eaten a stem. Every vegetable is part of a plant.
In this section, you’ll learn about the parts of a plant by making a salad that has each part as one of the ingredients. Once you’re familiar with the parts, you’ll look a little closer at them with nomenclature cards and by labeling your own specimen. You’ll also keep track of which parts of a plant you eat throughout the day!
